The 28th edition of PlastEurasia Istanbul - the International Istanbul Plastics Industry Fair, organized by the Turkish Plastics Industry Foundation (PAGEV) in association with TÜYAP Fairs, opened at the TÜYAP Fair Convention and Congress Center. The largest trade show of the Eurasian region and the second largest event of the world was held from December 5 to 8, and was once again the meeting point of the global plastics industry. Attending the opening of the fair were PAGEV President Yavuz Eroğlu as well as Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) Chairman İsmail Gülle, European Plastics Converters Association (EuPC) Board of Directors Chair Renato Zelcher, European Plastic Raw Materials Manufacturers Association (PlasticsEurope) Executive Director Karl Foerster, American Chemical Council (ACC) Director General Keith A. TİM Chairman İsmail Gülle noted that the Turkish economy grew by exports and foreign sales were vital for companies at times like these.
Exhibitors of PlastEurasia spread out over 10 halls in the venue, showcasing their latest offerings from plastics machinery to chemicals, raw materials, machinery components, heat and control equipment, and molding. In addition to being a venue for exhibiting the latest products and technologies to thousands of professional visitors, PlastEurasia is an excellent opportunity for new markets and partnerships.
Speaking at the opening of PlastEurasia, TOBB Plastics, Rubber and Composites Industry Assembly and PAGEV President Yavuz Eroğlu noted the significance of the Turkish plastics industry for Europe and the region, saying “We at PAGEV have been striving to carry the Turkish plastics industry forward since the day we were established. Today, we are the sixth largest plastics producer of the world, and the second largest in Europe. This is a great achievement, but by no means enough. We aim for leadership, and PlastEurasia has been a major part of our journey for the past 28 years. PlastEurasia is a hallmark event in the Turkish fair organization scene, attracting more and more exhibitors and visitors every year, and tracing the development trajectory of the industry. Last year, the Fair was held with over one thousand exhibitors from 43 countries and more than 50,000 professional visitors, and we expect more than 60,000 professionals to visit this year, eight thousand of whom will be from foreign countries. The fair features national pavilions by China, India, Taiwan and Iran, in addition to procurement delegations from 31 countries including Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Palestine, Greece, and Azerbaijan, presenting great cooperation opportunities. Being Europe's largest and the world's second largest plastics fair, PlastEurasia will continue on its mission to be industrialists' window to the world, and help to grow the industry."
Highlighting a new feature in this year's edition of PlastEurasia, Yavuz Eroğlu said that the "MyTüyap Matchmaking System" rolled out this year enabled participants to see who is who, and book appointments and meetings 24/7 by email to interested parties.
