Presentation on Plastics Market in Turkey

Invited by TAITRA, Mr Peter W.J Huang welcomed the Turkish delegation in the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, Hall 1. The delegation led by Mr. Yavuz Eroğlu of PAGEV, the President of the Turkish Plastics Industry Foundation was also joined by the honorable Mr. İsmet Erikan of the Turkish Trade Office in Taipei and Mr. Jason Lin, President at Formosa Plastics. At this seminar, Mr. Erikan announces that the problem today is that ‘businesses need to do more business together. Our efforts are not enough and that we can do better“, Although the recent news on Turkey has been much covered by the international media. “Turkey is ready. Turkey is safe!”

The seminar pointed out the potential in the market and that there is so much potential for Taiwan and Turkey to work together. So far, evidently seen in the current trade figures, this opportunity has yet been fully realized. Both Mr. Huang and Mr. Erikan point out that Taiwan and Turkey are two major economies in the world and are key market access points for accessing other markets in the Europe and Asia-Pacific region. Through closer co-operation between both countries‘ government and industry, both parties can create a win-win situation for everyone.

Mr. Eroğlu also pointed out that the Turkey market continues to grow and that currently, although Turkey ranks number 6 in the global plastic industry, the reason for this was because Turkey has focused more on the application or plastic products and the making it into the final product. Although this was the first time that Mr. Eroğlu has visited Taiwan, it will be PAGEV‘s second time participating in Taipei PLAS, it is expected that there will be an increased co-operation between the two nations in the coming future.

From the Turkish delegation party present at this seminar there were respectable Turkish business members, industry professionals and potential buyers that represent respectable businesses in Turkey. Some of these businesses are also subsidiaries or business partners or global brands such as Panasonic.
In closing or this successful seminar, one by one, Mr. Eroğlu introduced the Turkish buyers present at the seminars to everyone in hopes that this could spark the beginning or a great business relationship.
